The corkscrew

“The Corkscrew”

The corkscrew punch is a power shot. To execute the punch, start with a traditional boxing stance with your feet shoulder width apart and your hands up to protect. The punch technique (the cross) is delivered by the twisting of the wrist and forearm, allowing your fist to rotate inwards until it is perpendicular to the ground. This twisting motion generates additional power that you can use to deliver a devastating blow to your opponent. Also, make sure to keep your other hand up to protect your face and pivot on your back foot to transfer your weight into the punch.

Note: Focus on landing the punch with the outside three knuckles of your fist, as this will provide the most force and be sure your hands are wrapped properly to reduce the risk of injury.

Like any boxing technique, the corkscrew punch requires practice, repetition and more repetition to master.

*Add MORE power by simply adding the falling step to this technique
