Snapping hook

“Snapping power hook”

Power starts from the ground through the legs, back foot behind. Rotating the hip a split second before stretching the back muscles slightly and whipping the shoulders around bringing the 45 degree bend on the elbow, whipping the punch on impact retracting quickly. The power comes from the rotation of the hips and the transfer of weight from the back foot to the front foot. The snap comes from the quick extension of the elbow and the snap of the wrist. It is important to keep the other hand up for defense and to pivot on the ball of the front foot to maintain balance and stability. Practice and repetition are key to mastering this technique.
