Smothering and trapping

Smothering and trapping

“An aggressive well timed defensive strategy in which the practitioner traps or pins the opponent’s gloves into his own chest or body taking away his ability to attack. After pinning the opponent’s hands, the practitioner is able to throw punches using speed and accuracy. All of this is done in split second fashion”

This strategy is commonly known as “smothering and trapping”  It involves a fighter getting in close to their opponent, pressing their body against them and using their own arms to pin the opponent’s arms close to their body, effectively restricting their movement.

By doing this, the fighter executing the technique takes away their opponent’s ability to throw punches or strikes, while giving themselves a clear opening to throw quick and accurate punches of their own. This technique requires excellent timing and skill, as well as the ability to quickly transition from defense to offense.

While this technique can be effective in certain situations, it can also be risky, as it requires the fighter to get in close to their opponent and potentially expose themselves to counter-attacks. Additionally, it may not be suitable for fighters with a different style or physical attributes, and its effectiveness may depend on the specific rules and regulations of the combat sport in question.
