Power jabs
“Boxing punch technique using your body weight, footwork and timing, can be set up by 1, 2 combination or right cross lead (from the orthodox stance), or even counterpunching.
Add power by using the falling step”
The power jab is a boxing punch technique that can be very effective when executed correctly. To perform a power jab, you should start from your boxing stance, with your feet shoulder-width apart and your weight evenly distributed.
To execute the power jab, you will need to use your body weight, footwork, and timing. Start by shifting your weight onto your back foot, then as you throw the jab, step forward with your front foot and push off of your back foot, using your momentum to generate power.
To add even more power to your power jab, you can use the falling step technique. This involves taking a slight step forward with your front foot as you throw the punch and fall slightly down by bending the front knee, this will help you transfer your weight forward and down using gravity to generate more power. Be careful not to overcommit with the falling step, as this can leave you off balance and vulnerable to counterattacks.
The power jab can be set up with a 1-2 combination or a right cross lead (from the orthodox stance). By using these combinations, you can create openings in your opponent’s defense and set yourself up for a powerful jab that can land with significant force.
